The Greek alphabet lives in the Greek and Coptic block. Small sigma has two forms: σ inside a word and ς at the end. Mathematics also uses a set of “symbol” variants — ϑ ϕ ϖ ϱ ϵ — which are distinct characters with compatibility decompositions to the ordinary letters.

Several Greek letters have separate math lookalikes: Ω OHM SIGN U+2126, ∆ INCREMENT U+2206, ∑ N-ARY SUMMATION U+2211, ∏ N-ARY PRODUCT U+220F and µ MICRO SIGN U+00B5. The Greek question mark ; U+037E is canonically equivalent to the ASCII semicolon, so normalization replaces it with ; — a classic source of confusing bugs.
